Voice chat

The server now has voice chat right inside the game. There are no extra programs or windows; everything is set up in game with the .voice command.

You don't need to install anything: the updater downloads the required files automatically, so just start the game through it as usual.

QUICK START

Everything is off at first, so you turn on what you need once:

1. Type .voice in chat.

2. Turn MICROPHONE and LISTEN on.

3. Turn on the channels you need in both columns, e.g. PARTY on the left and on the right.

4. Hold the push-to-talk key (Caps Lock by default) and talk.

THE .VOICE WINDOW

- Status - "connected" means everything works.

- MICROPHONE - send your voice or not.

- LISTEN - hear others or not.

- SEND TO - who gets your voice:

Party - your party members, wherever they are;

Clan - clan members who are online;

Nearby - players around you, the farther they are, the quieter they hear you;

Trade - only the player you are trading with, and only while the trade window is open. Once the trade is over, no voice goes through this channel.

- HEAR FROM - whose voice you receive, same channels. For someone to hear you, the channel must be on in your left column and in their right column.

- VOLUME - how loud you hear others (0-200%).

- NEARBY RADIUS - how far your voice reaches in the Nearby channel.

- SHOW SPEAKERS - on-screen text with the name of whoever is talking. Only players who can hear that person see it.

- Key - the push-to-talk key: Caps Lock, side mouse buttons, mouse wheel press, ~, Left Alt, Right Ctrl, V or B.

- Input / Output - choose your microphone and headphones/speakers. The choice is saved on your computer.

- Connect - needed when several game windows are open (see below).

The .voice window is shown in Russian or English, depending on the language selected in the game.

PUSH-TO-TALK

- Your voice is sent only while the key is held and the game window is active.

- While you talk, "You are speaking" is shown on screen.

- Caps Lock also switches letter case in chat on every press. If that bothers you, pick a side mouse button.

SEVERAL GAME WINDOWS

With several windows open, the game shows a hint in chat. Open .voice in the window you need and press "Connect". Voice is sent from the window that is currently active.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Status "not connected":

- close the game, run the updater and wait until the update finishes;

- check that your antivirus did not remove the voice chat files. If it did, add the game folder to exclusions and run the updater again.

Nobody hears you:

- on your side: microphone is on, the channel is on in "Send to", the key is held in the active game window, your microphone is selected in "Input";

- in Windows 10/11: Settings -> Privacy -> Microphone -> "Let desktop apps access your microphone";

- on the other player's side: "Listen" is on, and the channel is on in their "Hear from".

You hear nobody:

- "Listen" and the channel in "Hear from" are on;

- check the volume;

- your headphones/speakers are selected in "Output".

The server does not record voice. It only forwards it to the players who should hear you.
